Small Lava
An angular red rock between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch. Very lightweight and porous, which makes it good for encouraging drainage in soils. Commonly used as a low-maintenance top dressing in garden beds, and around houses and drains.
What it does and doesn't do
It deters weeds, but it breaks down into smaller pieces under pressure and offers no nutritional benefit to surrounding plants or soil.
