Our plant-based compost, screened and cooked in a closed facility to eliminate weed spores. Best for amending soils, top-dressing beds, and landscaping. Fighting weeds?
This is the compost to use. Because it's cooked in a controlled indoor setting, it doesn't carry the weed spores our outdoor-cooked mulch does.
A note on debris
Composted yard waste is processed in bulk, so a small amount of non-organic material (plastic, glass, foil) can make it through. It blows into yard waste piles during storms, or arrives in curbside bins. Our supplier removes what they can with belt blowers, sifting and hand-picking. Both of our plant based compost sources are tested by the Washington State Department of Ecology and certified organic at under 1% debris. That's a small number, but it doesn't feel small when you're working through a pile by hand, so we'd rather you hear it from us first.
