Garden Mix is a great general growing medium. For veggies or flower gardens, this mix is the perfect choice whether that be in ground growing, pots, or raised garden beds. Garden Mix consists of a blend of Steergro and Fine Organic Compost (50%), screened sand (25%), and native soil (25%).
â– For below ground growing (like carrots and potatoes), these plants need extra drainage support and lots of watering. It is recommended to add 20% screened sand to assist in the growth and expansion of these types of plants. We are able to pre-mix this for you upon request, however we do charge a custom mix fee of $2/yard.
â– For berries and other acid-loving plants, we would recommend topping your beds with a layer of Fine Bark to bring up the acidity of the soil. We recommend not mixing the bark directly into the soil as this can also seep nitrogen from the soil as the wood continues to break down.
