These chips are great for pathways and animal pens. They're good for repelling a myriad of insects from spiders to fleas. Cedar chips also do not have those annoying little slivers. These chips can be used as a mulch around your landscaping and plants. Because of its properties it decomposes slowly and makes a good weed barrier. Some plants in your landscaping may not like Cedar. Perennials seem to be okay but annual plants may not do well. Consider carefully its effect on your plants before using it as a mulch.
